CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team earned its third straight runner-up finish today with a second place at the Don Bishop Invitational at the Campbellsville Country Club.
The Blue Raiders finished with a two-day team-total of 591 (293-298) to finish eight strokes behind winner University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) who shot a 583 (290-293) over the two days.
Lindsey Wilson's Antonio Arriola led the Blue Raiders with a 143 (73-70). His two-under par 70 on Tuesday -- which was the best round of the day -- vaulted Arriola into a tie for first place. But Cumberlands' Fredrik Lindbolm defeated Arriola in a playoff to earn medalist honors.
Lindsey Wilson senior Joe Hood -- who led after Monday's opening round -- finished tied for third with a two-day total of 144 (70-74). Hood and Arriola earned all-tournament honors for their play.
LWC's Nicolas Navarro finished 14th in the 64-man tournament with a 152 (76-76). Daron Morris (153) and Chris Lewis (156) tied for 15th and 20th respectively. Derek Murphy (160) finished tied for 32nd playing as an individual.
Host Campbellsville University finished third with a team-total of 607 (303-304) while Cedarville (Ohio) University's 622 (310-312) and Indiana Wesleyan University's 630 (318-312) rounds out the top five finishes.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Oct. 25-26 as the Blue Raiders travel to the Lindenwood (Mo.) University Invitational in St. Charles, Mo.
