Day Two's 286 Propels Men's Golf to Second-Place at the Bill Sergent Invitational

LONDON, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team improved by 20 strokes on day two of the Bill Sargent Invitational hosted by University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at the Crooked Creek Golf Club to shoot a 286 and finish second after leaving the clubhouse in seventh place on Thursday night.

Lindsey Wilson turned in 306 strokes on Thursday, putting them far off the lead, before Nicolas Navarro energized the team with a 69 on Friday to help give the Blue Raider their big push.

Lee (Tenn.) University won the team title with a 584 (297-287), Lindsey Wilson took second with a 592 (306-286) and host Cumberlands finished third with 598 strokes (299-299). Walters State (Tenn.) Junior College, the leader after day one, finished fourth with a 603 (295-308).

Walters State's Lucas Armstrong was the individual champion, shooting a 142 (68-74) over the two days. His 68 on day one was the low round of the event.

Navarro finished with a 146 (77-69) tying for a team-best score and a tie for ninth place overall with Antonio Arriola (76-60). Finishing tied for 15th overall was Joe Hood with a 149 (76-73), while Daron Morris tied at 21st on the leader board with a 151 (77-74). Derek Murphy rounded out the Lindsey Wilson top five with a 164 (86-78).

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Sept. 13-14 at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament at Dale Hollow State Park in Burkesville, Ky.
