Williams Leads Men's Soccer to 2-1 Win at Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College senior Chris Williams' goal in 75th minute helped the No. 1-ranked Blue Raiders escape with a 2-1 win over host Campbellsville (Ky.) University tonight at Finley Stadium.

The win secures at least a share of the Mid-South Conference regular season crown for the Blue Raiders with one conference game remaining. Lindsey Wilson travels to Georgetown (Ky.) College on Thursday for the MSC regular season finale.

Williams -- who is coming off a career-high four goals on Sunday against University of Pikeville -- broke a 1-1 tie with a goal from the top right corner of the penalty box to help the Blue Raiders remain perfect this season. Williams is tied for second on the team with seven goals this season.

Lindsey Wilson improves to 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the MSC. Campbellsville falls to 7-9-2 and 2-3-1 in the conference.

Lindsey Wilson junior Lebogang Moloto opened the night's scoring in the 20th minute with his fifth goal of the season to give the Blue Raiders the 1-0 lead.

Campbellsville scored the equalizer in the 50th minute as Ramiro Sanchez scored from deep inside the penalty area to tie the game at 1-1.

Campbellsville finished the match nearly doubling the Blue Raiders in shots (16-9). But neither team was very accurate tonight as Lindsey Wilson managed just two shots on-goal compared to the Tigers' four on target.

Lindsey Wilson freshman goalkeeper Yuta Nomura allowed the one goal while collecting three saves in the win. Campbellsville's Kyle Thomas allowed both Blue Raider goals without collecting a save.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday as it travels to Georgetown.
