PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Winning her third straight race, Lindsey Wilson College sophomore Sharon Ronoh helped the Blue Raider women's cross-country team to a fourth-place finish at the Shawnee State (Ohio) University Invitational on Friday in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Ronoh crossed the finish line first in the 80-harrier field, crossing in 18 minutes and 30 seconds, while the next closest competitor, Shawnee State's Kasey Hosier, finished 51 seconds behind her.
The host Bears did win the team crown, tallying 30 points with five individual finishes in the top 10. Cleveland State (Ohio) University took second with 45 points, Georgetown (Ky.) College was third with 71 points and the Blue Raiders finished fourth with 100 points.
Other Lindsey Wilson finishers include sophomore Maria Sanchez (21:09) and senior Alicia Mattingly (21:22) who finished back-to-back in 22nd and 23rd place, respectively. Also crossing for the Blue Raiders were freshman Haley Helton in 35th place in 23:10, sophomore Reini Brickson in 37th place in 23:14 and sophomore Amanda Bland crossing in 23:22 to take 38th place.
Newcomer Katlyn Davis took 40th place in 23:36 and freshman Katarina Gimborys rounded out the Lindsey Wilson harriers in 50th place with a time of 25:28.
Lindsey Wilson returns to racing at 3:30 p.m. CT on Oct. 14 at the Wilmington Invitational in Wilmington, Ohio.
