WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – It was a tight 1-1 game at halftime, but the second-ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team didn't let Cumberlands (Ky.) stick around, scoring three unanswered goals in the second half to win 4-1 on Saturday.

While the Blue Raiders found a way to break away in the game's second frame, it was the Patriots (6-2-1, 3-2-0 MSC) who gave their best effort to match Lindsey Wilson's pace. The teams tied in shots 10-10, with the Blue Raiders leading 8-4 in shots on goal.

Lwandiso Gonya found his rhythm in the contest, leading Lindsey Wilson with four shots and two goals as Philip Sandgren joined him in the act with two scores as well. After Sandgren scored first in just the 10th minute, it was Gonzalo Ortega that tied it up in the 21st.

The tie score lasted nearly 40 minutes until Sandgren found the back of the net off an assist from Gonya in the 57th minute. Continuing to be a do-it-all pair in the game, Gonya followed with the next two goals in the 62nd and 71st minutes. Tom Moody issued the assist on the final score following a foul by the Patriots' Zach Bell.

Yuta Nomura collected two saves in goal for Lindsey Wilson with the one goal allowed, while Cumberlands' Dwanye Tucker scooped up four saves and allowed all four goals.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday at Georgetown (Ky.) where it looks to improve to 8-1 in Mid-South Conference play and 12-1 overall.
