COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Five Blue Raiders scored in double figures today, but it was not enough as No. 9-ranked University of Pikeville outlasted host and No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson College 95-91 in overtime at Biggers Sports Center.
Pikeville's Jamar Briscoe scored a game-high 30 and Darnell Tubbs added 27 off the bench as the Bears evened their Mid-South Conference record to 1-1 with the win. Pikeville is 8-1 overall.
DeAntra Scott scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Raiders (4-1, 1-1 in the MSC). Chase Cox added 17 points and Wesley Hanspard contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.
Lindsey Wilson overcame a 13-point deficit in the early stages of the second half to take its first lead of the game 71-70 at the six-minute mark of regulation. The Blue Raider extended that lead to five points (76-71) with 4:20 before the Bears marched back.
Tubbs helped the Bears regain the lead at 80-79 with a basket with a minute left in regulation.
Lindsey Wilson's Darren Ballou hit a three with 28 seconds left to put the Blue Raiders back in front at 82-80. Ballou finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
Briscoe tied the game for the fourth time with a basket with 8.1 seconds left that eventually sent the game into overtime -- the second for Pikeville in three days.
The Bears sprinted out to a four-point lead in the overtime only to have Lindsey Wilson score six straight and take an 89-87 lead with 1:34 remaining in the game.
Pikeville scored the next six and sealed the win with four straight free throws.
The Bears ended the game shooting 54.7 percent (35-of-64), including six for 11 from beyond the 3-point arc. Lindsey Wilson managed just 41.6 percent (32-of-77).
Lindsey Wilson's Kalen Kimberland scored 13 points and Daronte' Clark added 10 in the loss. Pikeville's Trevor Setty ended with 20 points.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Nov. 20 as the Blue Raiders travel to Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
