LONDON, Ky. --The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team wrapped up the two-day Southeastern Kentucky Invitational hosted by University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) today with a tie for sixth place at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
The highlight of the week came on today's par-3, 149-yard 16th hole as Lindsey Wilson's Nicolas Navarro recorded an ace -- the only hole-in-one of the tournament.
During the three-round tournament, the downhill 16th yielded the one ace and just 18 birdies while 20 times scores of double bogey or worse were registered.
Navarro finished the tournament tied for 24th at 233 (80-78-75). Lindsey Wilson's Nathan Clark recorded the only top-20 finish for the Blue Raiders with a 231 (73-84-74). Clark tied for 20th in the 64-man field.
As a team, Lindsey Wilson tallied rounds of 309, 323 and 302 to finish the event with a 934.
The Blue Raiders had to overcome a handicap today as Darron Morris and Nathan Hincks each had to withdraw today due to illness. Morris finished yesterday's 36 holes tied for 15th playing as an individual.
Lindsey Wilson's Ryne Burnett and Chris Lewis finished tied for 33rd and 35th respectively. Burnett shot a 238 (85-77-76) while Lewis ended with a 239 (78-84-77).
Lindenwood (Mo.) University won the team title with an 875 (297-289-289) while host Cumberlands finished a close second with a score of 881 (299-290-292).
University of the Cumberlands Aaron Watkins won the Individual title shooting two under par 214 (74-70-70). Lindenwood's Paul Colditz (76-73-67) and Richard Docherty (72-73-71) finished second by shooting even par 216.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at the Mid-South Spring Golf Tournament April 2-3 at Cattails at Meadowview Resort in Kingsport, Tenn.
