ROME, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team shaved 19 strokes off Monday's score today to finish 13th overall at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational hosted by Berry (Ga.) College.
Entering today's final round in a tie for next to last place, the Blue Raiders shot a 309 and jumped four spots with a team-total of 637 (328-309) at Stonebridge Country Club.
As the team climbed up the leaderboard, four of the Blue Raiders bested their Monday round to make significant climbs up the individual leaderboard.
Lindsey Wilson's Nathan Clark jumped 24 spots into a tie for 37th overall to record the Blue Raiders best individual finish of the two-day tournament. Clark shot a three-over par 75 today to end the tournament with a 155 (80-75).
Ryne Burnett followed Monday's 83 with a 77 today to finish the tournament tied for 61st with a 160. Nicolas Navarro finished two strokes back of Burnett following his tournament run of 162 (83-79). Navarro ended in a tie for 69th after beginning the day tied with Burnett at 80th.
Chris Lewis had the biggest comeback of the day for the Blue Raiders as he trimmed eight shots off his opening round score. Lewis finished the tournament tied for 76th after shooting a 164 (86-78).
Grayson Bills slipped back into a tie for 89th in the 111-man field after finishing with a two-day total of 167 (82-85).
University of the Cumberlands won the team title beating first-round leader Central Alabama Community College by three strokes. Cumberlands shot a 586 (292-294) over the two days.
LaGrange College's Hudson Keener led wire-to-wire to win the tournament with a 139 (66-73).
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Monday, March 12, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Lee (Tenn.) University Spring Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn.
