COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College sophomore Tom Moody scored a pair of goals to help the top-ranked Blue Raiders to a 4-0 win over visiting Campbellsville (Ky.) University tonight at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
With the win, Lindsey Wilson breaks the program record set during the 1998 and 1999 seasons for consecutive wins. The Blue Raiders have now won 29 straight dating back to last season.
The mark is the second longest streak in NAIA history -- trailing only Hastings (Neb.) College's 39 straight wins during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
Moody made sure the Blue Raiders (6-0, 4-0 in the Mid-South Conference) had more than enough to continue the streak.
The Devon, England, midfielder scored in the 10th minute off senior Lebogang Moloto's third assist of the season to give Lindsey Wilson an early 1-0 lead. Moody doubled the Blue Raiders' score in the 27th minute with his third goal of the season off Albert Edwards' assist for the 2-0 lead.
The Moody goals were part of an offensive onslaught that enabled the Blue Raiders to out-shoot the Tigers (4-2, 0-1) 15-4 for the game. Lindsey Wilson has out-shot its opponents this season 139-20.
Following halftime, Yazeed Davids and Philip Sandgren scored two minutes apart to push the lead to 4-0. Both goals came off Eddy Campbell crosses for the assist.
Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper Jesper Malmstrom saved the only Campbellsville shot on target to pick up the shutout win. Tiger keeper Max Malachiyev ended allowing four goals while stopping five Lindsey Wilson shots.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, October 14 as the Blue Raiders host Vanguard (Calif.) University at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
