Men's Basketball Outlasts No. 24 Martin Methodist in 74-73 Triple-Overtime Win

COLUMBIA, Ky. – D'on Hall scored a career-high 26 points as Lindsey Wilson defeated Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College 74-73 in triple-overtime at Biggers Sports Center on Wednesday night.

Lindsey Wilson's Keshaun Mayfield stole a Martin Methodist pass and fed the ball to Hall on a fast break for the go-ahead score with 13 seconds left on the clock. Dusan Pantovic made a stop on the ensuing possession as he forced Darius Woods into a turnover with under six seconds left in the third overtime to secure the 74-73 win.

The Blue Raiders (7-5, 0-2 MSC) had three players score in double-figures led by Hall who hit all five of his free-throw attempts. Daronte' Clark finished the game with 10 points while Tony Horne added 17 points and seven rebounds. Mayfield led the team with 12 rebounds.

Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a 7-2 lead early in the first half as Mayfield scored five of his six points in the first 3:06. Martin Methodist took its first lead at 8-7 after the RedHawks hit back-to-back three pointers, but the Blue Raiders would respond with a 13-4 run to make it 20-12.

Martin Methodist would answer right back with a 9-0 run of their own to retake the lead at 21-20. The Blue Raiders would tie it at 25 before the Redhawks closed the first half with a 5-2 run to take a 30-27 lead into halftime.

Lindsey Wilson would fall behind by six in the second half before Daronte' Clark would hit a three to give the Blue Raiders a 37-36 lead with 17:52 left in regulation. Lindsey Wilson and Martin Methodist would be tied five more times in a game that had 11 lead changes in which neither was able to pull away from the other.

The Blue Raiders led 60-57 with 38 seconds left in regulation when Brandon Hunter hit a three-point field-goal to tie it at 60 for Martin Methodist. After a Lindsey Wilson miss, the Redhawks had one attempt to win it in regulation but Hunter missed a layup just before time expired.

Lindsey Wilson started the first overtime period on a 4-0 run but Martin Methodist would tie the game on four successful free-throw attempts. The RedHawks missed the game-winning three-point shot as time expired to send the game into a second overtime period. Lindsey Wilson had a chance to end the game in that period, but missed a put-back attempt at the buzzer.

Hall's 26 points marks the third game in a row where he reached his single-game career high. Hall posted 19 points against Martin Methodist on Dec. 3, followed by 21 points against No. 14 Philander Smith on Dec. 15.

Martin Methodist was led by Robert Boyd with 26 points, 20 of which came in the first half. Woods finished with 16 points on the night as Martin Methodist falls to 8-4 on the season.
