Men's Golf Finishes Second at Mid-South Championships

BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson men's golf finished where they began the day, second place, following today's final round of the Mid-South Conference Championships at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.

Lindsey Wilson went toe-to-toe with regular season champions Cumberlands but in the end, the Patriots took home the title by a slim four-shot margin in the 54-hole tournament.

The Blue Raiders shot s three-day total 886 (293-297-296) compared to Cumberlands' 882 (297-291-294).

Cumberland ends in fourth at 914 (304-312-298) while Georgetown claimed fifth with a 936 (318-315-303). UVa-Wise's 942 (316-320-306) is sixth followed by Shawnee State's 949 (311-306-332), Pikeville's 953 (309-323-321) and St. Catharine's 985 (342-318-325). Bluefield had two withdraw from the tournament disqualifying the Rams from the team championship.

Lindsey Wilson's Nathan Clark matched the team performance with a runner-up finish.

Clark fired a 2-under par 70 today -- the top round on Tuesday -- to finish with a tournament-total 215 (72-73-70). Campbellsville's Scott Foster led wire-to-wire and finished with a 213 (71-68-74) to win by two strokes.

Lindsey Wilson's Ryne Burnett and Daron Morris each produced top-10 finishes.

Burnett ended in eighth at 224 (75-75-74) while Morris tied for 10th at 227 (79-73-75).

Franck Medale ended in 12th with a 228 (72-79-77) and Nathan Hincks rounded out the Blue Raider quintet with a 238 (74-76-88) to end in 28th. Jonathon Grabara -- playing as an individual -- tied for 35th at 242 (83-79-80).

Following the tournament, conference officials handed out the all-conference honors.

The all-conference team is based on play during the three conference tournaments -- including the two regular season tournaments -- during the 2012-13 season.

Clark earned first-team all-conference while Morris earned honorable mention honors. Seven men made the top team while an additional six earned honorable mention honors.

Campbellsville's Trey Shirley earned MSC Player of the Year and Cumberlands' Isac Lambertsson is the MSC Freshman of the Year. Chris Kraftick was selected by his peers as the Mid-South Men's Golf Coach of the Year after leading the Patriots to the regular season and tournament titles.

Lindsey Wilson will learn if it will make the national tournament field on May 2 when the NAIA releases the national qualifiers.
