Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team jumped out front first, but allowed two goals in a come-from-behind win by Spring Arbor (Mich.) Thursday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
The Blue Raiders (0-1) and Cougars were tied at halftime after neither offense was able to find a rhythm in the first half. That changed in the 53rd minute when Aleksi Pahkasalo fed a pass to Lwandiso Gonya in the box for the first goal of the game.
The Cougars (1-0) were quick to respond with a goal of their own in the 58th minute as a throw in by Cody Getsinger into the box found its way to Michael Caccavo. In a scramble, Caccavo was able to punch it past the Lindsey Wilson defense for the equalizer.
Spring Arbor kept on the offensive as Joel Musambi was able to break loose and sneak the go-ahead goal into the back of the net in the 69th minute.
The Blue Raiders -- who outshot the Cougars 9-8 -- turned up the heat as the game went on but Spring Arbor was able to send away everything that was thrown at them.
The loss is first for Lindsey Wilson at home since November 2010 and ends their 20-game home-winning streak.
The Blue Raiders will have the week off as they prepare to travel to Montgomery, Ala. on Aug. 30 to take on No. 1 and defending national champions Belhaven (Miss.) University. The Blazers knocked Lindsey Wilson out of the national tournament last season in the national semifinals.
