Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. Lindsey Wilson's D'on Hall started off the night with a three-pointer and ended the night with one, the second capping off a 25-point performance and sealing a 66-64 Mid-South Conference win over Cumberland (Tenn.).
With only twelve seconds left in the game, Anthony Crenshaw took the inbounds pass to half court as Lindsey Wilson burned its final timeouts. Now down to seven seconds, Hall pulled the trigger again and sank the three-pointer, leaving only seventh-tenths of a second on the clock. A last-second heave by the Bulldogs was deflected away by Daronte' Clark.
Hall shot 10-of-13 from the field and hit five three-pointers to lead the Blue Raiders (13-13, 4-10 MSC) in the win. Keshaun Mayfield and Tony Horne followed with nine points each.
A three by Hall opened up the scoring, but Cumberland would respond with an 11-0 run. Another three-pointer by Hall and a three from Crenshaw helped the Blue Raiders get back into the game, trailing 18-15 with 8:18 remaining in the opening half. A 5-0 Lindsey Wilson run put the Blue Raiders back up 20-18, but a Marqual Hickerson field goal tied the game with 5:28 left on the clock. Neither team could seize control from there; with the score tied four more times, the teams headed into the break deadlocked at 31-31.
Hall scored 15 of his points in the opening half while the Blue Raiders out-rebounded the Bulldogs 16-14. Both teams made 11 field goals in the first 20 minutes, but Cumberland held the advantage in free-throw shooting at 77.8 percent.
The second half opened with another close battle as the teams were tied four times. It wasn't until the 14:39 mark with the score tied at 39-39 that Lindsey Wilson found some separation. The Blue Raiders went up by six courtesy of an 8-2 run, but the Bulldogs would not go away, using a 9-3 run for the tenth tie of the game. With 6:37 on the clock Dusan Pantovic made a field goal to kick start a 9-0 run, but Lindsey Wilson would foul Cumberland's Alex Flagler as he sank a three. Flagler missed the free throw but Lamar Brinkley grabbed the putback to cut it to 59-55.
Flagler hit another three at the 2:31 mark as Cumberland trailed by one. A Brinkley field goal put the Bulldogs on top 60-59, but Hall would convert another shot from beyond the arc to make it 62-60. Following several Blue Raider timeouts, Lindsey Wilson sent Brinkley to the line, where he made both shots. Cumberland sent Clark to the line with 1:12 to play and the senior gave the Blue Raiders a 63-62 advantage. The teams exchanged misses before Flagler found Kenneth Stripling for a layup, taking the time down to 12 seconds.
Brinkley scored 16 points, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line to pace the Bulldogs (12-11, 4-10 MSC). Brinkley was also one rebound short of a double-double. Dern added 11 points and made all four of his free throw shots while Hickerson contributed nine points.
Lindsey Wilson out-rebounded Cumberland 30-26 and scored 10 points off eight Bulldog turnovers. The Blue Raiders also had 28 points off the bench, compared to 24 for Cumberland's bench.
