GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Hot shooting and clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch helped Lindsey Wilson men's basketball upset No. 16 and defending NAIA National Champion Georgetown (Ky.) College Thursday night, 86-76.

Lindsey Wilson (14-13, 5-10 MSC) was led by D'on Hall with 22 points including hitting 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and all six of his free-throw attempts. Chase Cox returned to action in a big way after being sidelined since Nov. 30, 2013. The senior entered the game off the bench and finished with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Tyrie Orosco led the team with seven rebounds. Keshaun Mayfield finished with eight points, five rebounds and five assists.

The game opened with both teams trading baskets until the score became tied at 12-12. Lindsey Wilson would use a 10-2 run to take a 22-14 lead with 12:42 to play in the first half. The Blue Raiders would hold a slight lead for the remainder of the half. Georgetown (19-8, 10-6 MSC) would get as close as two points at 33-31, but were unable to bring it any closer.

Seconds before halftime following a missed Blue Raider field goal, Georgetown's Noah Cottrill hit a half-court buzzer beater to cut the lead to 39-36 in favor of Lindsey Wilson.

The Blue Raiders shot 55.2 percent from the field in the first half including making 10 of their first 14 attempts. Georgetown shot 50.0 percent and held a slight 17-15 rebounding advantage. Lindsey Wilson had seven steals compared to four by the Tigers. The Blue Raider bench contributed 20 points in the first half compared to just one point by the Georgetown bench.

Georgetown outscored Lindsey Wilson 7-4 to open the second half and tie the game 43-43. The Blue Raiders responded with a 10-0 run capped off by a three pointer by Cox to take a 53-43 lead with 13:57 to play.

The Tigers would slowly trim the lead, eventually cutting it to four points at 57-53 with just over 10 minutes to play. Lindsey Wilson would again respond, using a 14-6 run to take a 71-59 lead with just over six minutes to play.

Cox would make two free throws followed by another three pointer to give Lindsey Wilson a 16 point lead at 76-60 with 5:08 to play. Combined with Blue Raider turnovers, Georgetown scored 12 straight points to cut the lead to 76-72 with 2:59 remaining.

With Lindsey Wilson leading 77-72, Georgetown committed three turnovers in the final 1:53 while hitting just 1-of-4 from the field. The Blue Raiders made 7-of-8 free-throw attempts over that span to help seal the 86-76 upset win.

Lindsey Wilson finished the game shooting 52.8 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from three-point range. Georgetown shot 41.8 percent and was just 3-of-13 from beyond the arc. The Tigers held a slight advantage in rebounding 40-37, but grabbed 19 offensive boards compared to Lindsey Wilson's 10. The Blue Raider bench outscored Georgetown's 38-8 on the night.

The Tigers were led by Monty Wilson with 18 points in the loss. Deondre McWhorter finished with a 15 point, 11 rebound double-double. Dominique Hagans fell just short of a double-double of his own with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Blue Raiders return to action when they travel to Williamsburg, Ky., to take on the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday, Feb. 22.
