Clark shines on Senior Night; Scores career-high 30 points in Men's Basketball's win over Shawnee State

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson senior guard Daronte' Clark made the most out of his final Biggers Sports Center appearance today in a 75-71 win over visiting Shawnee State (Ohio).

Clark scored a career-high 30 points and tied a program-record with eight 3-pointers in the win.

The Blue Raiders (16-14, 7-11 in the Mid-South Conference) close out the regular season on a two-game winning streak heading into next week's MSC Tournament opener with top-seeded and No. 2-ranked Pikeville (Ky.) in Lebanon, Tenn.

Lindsey Wilson needed every one of Clark's points to combat a frigid night at the line and a tough-nose Shawnee State team -- that closed its season today at 9-20 and 3-15 in the MSC. The Bears are one of two teams that will miss next week's eight-team tournament.

Shawnee State led for the majority of the closing half building as much as an eight-point lead. The Bears looked to be in control following a Devon Carter layup to give Shawnee State a 62-57 lead with 4:35 left.

Lindsey Wilson used its biggest run of the night -- a 13-4 spurt over the next three minutes -- to claim its largest lead of the game at 70-66 with 1:37 left in regulation.

Clark scored eight of his points during the run -- including a pair of threes -- to give the Blue Raiders the late momentum.

Trevor Banks responded with a 3-pointer of his own with 1:16 left to help the Bears climb within 70-69. Banks finished with a team-high 18 points, including making 4-of-8 3-pointers. His four threes helped Shawnee State hit a season-high 11 on the night. The Bears also finished the game shooting 44 percent (11-of-25) from beyond the 3-point arc -- 12 percentage points higher than their season average.

D'on Hall -- who scored all of his 10 points after intermission -- answered the Banks three with one of his two bombs on the night with 46 seconds remaining to extend the lead back to four.

The Bears refused to go away cutting the deficit in half just four seconds later on a fast-break lay-up by Nick Gouch.

Lindsey Wilson milked the shot clock inside single digits on its next possession. Chase Cox missed a 3-point attempt from the right wing only to have Clark gobble up rebound and score the put-back for the 75-71 win.

Shawnee State built as much as a nine-point lead in the first half. The Bears benefited from terrific 3-point shooting and horrid free throw shooting from the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson ended the game just 34.6 percent (9-of-26) from the free throw line.

The Blue Raiders clawed back to close the half and trailed by just one point (34-33) following the first 20 minutes.

Thanks to Clark, Hall and Cox -- who matched Hall with two 3-pointers during the game -- Lindsey Wilson also hit a season-high from long range. The Blue Raiders hit 12 3-pointers in the win.

Keshaun Mayfield stuffed the stat sheet for the Blue Raiders scoring nine points, pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out nine assists. Tony Horne added eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Ethan Moffatt finished with 11 points off the Shawnee State bench. Mark Bryant scored 10 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Lindsey Wilson meets Pikeville at 2 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 6, in the first quarterfinal game of the MSC Tournament. The tournament continues on Saturday with the semifinals with the finals slated for Sunday.
