Men's Golf wins second-straight President's Cup over Campbellsville

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team dominated singles match-play competition on Sunday against visiting Campbellsville (Ky.) to claim their second-consecutive President's Cup.

Lindsey Wilson took a 3-1/2 to 1-1/2 lead in the first round on Saturday of the match-play, better ball competition. The Blue Raiders carried the momentum into Sunday as they won nine of the ten head-to-head singles competitions with just one split.

Alex Durham led the way for Lindsey Wilson after a 7 & 6 victory -- up seven holes with just six holes to play in the round -- over Campbellsville's Dalton Olson. Chris Butler defeated Dylan Bray by a 6 & 4 mark and Clayton Bradshaw picked up a 5 & 4 win over Michael Newton.

Zach Madewell defeated Jared Fannin 4 & 3 while Jake Wall, Nathan Hincks and Ryan Nowe all won their matches by a 3 & 2 mark.

Jordan Hagan won 2 & 1 and Federico Navarro was victorious with a 1-Up win.

Jonathon Grabara and Justin Hazel were the only pairing to finish all square.

The Blue Raiders also won the stroke-play event with a 15-under par 553 (284-269), defeating the Tigers who finished with 16-over par 584 (292-292).

The 553 is the second-lowest two-day total in Blue Raider history and best score in the President's Cup by Lindsey Wilson. The team fell just three strokes short of beating the 551 (273-278) shot by the men's team at the Pikeville College Spring Invitational back in 2001-02.

Hincks took home medalist honors after posting a 6-under par 136 (69-67). Durham (-4), Bradshaw (-3), Butler (-3), Hagan (-3) and Nowe (-1) all finished under par for the tournament at the par-71 course.

The Blue Raiders have won five of the last six President's Cup dating back to the 2009-10 season. During the 2012-13 season, Lindsey Wilson won the stroke-play event, but lost the match-play competition.

The men's team returns to action on Sept. 4 when the Blue Raiders head to the Bill Sergent Invitational in London, Ky.
