SILVIS, Ill. – Lindsey Wilson men's golf shaved five strokes off of its opening-round score but lost a spot on the leaderboard to finish 16th at the NAIA Preview held at TPC Deere Run.
No. 19 Lindsey Wilson posted a 313 today to close the tournament with a two-day total 631 (318-313) at the par-71, 6,625-yard Deere Run layout. While today's round was an improvement, it was far from what it could have been.
Jonathon Grabara -- who led Lindsey Wilson with a 75 on Monday -- carded a 2-over par 73 today, but was disqualified after signing an incorrect scorecard. Without Grabara's score, the Blue Raiders had to use the remaining four scores -- eight strokes higher than if they could have used his 73.
Clayton Bradshaw and Alex Durham each carded 6-over par 77s today -- a four-stroke improvement for Durham and 12 better for Bradshaw. Durham finished the tournament tied for 46th with a 158 (81-77) and Bradshaw ended in a tie for 93rd at 166 (89-77).
Chris Butler posted an 81 today to end in a tie for 54th in the 120-man field with a two-round total 159 (78-81). Zach Madewell closed the tournament tied for 72nd with a 162 after today's 78. He fired an 84 on Monday.
No. 1 Coastal Georgia -- one of nine ranked teams in the event -- captured the 24-team title with a 595 (302-293). No. 3 Oklahoma City was the runner-up at 598 (307-291). Oklahoma City's Anthony Marchesani earned medalist honors with a 1-over par 143 (73-70).
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Oct. 26-27 in its fall season finale at the Bowling Green Preview in Bowling Green, Ky.
