Men's Basketball wins fifth-straight at home on Saturday night against Voorhees, 85-78

COLUMBIA, Ky. — The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team closed out their classic on Saturday evening with an 85-78 victory over Voorhees (S.C.).

Charles Sutton posted his second-straight double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds, while Dimtry Utolin led the Blue Raiders (7-2) with 18 points. Bryan Wallace (16 points), Hannes Erhardt (12 points) and Kevin Windley (ten points) rounded out the players in double figures for Lindsey Wilson.

Voorhees (8-4) took an early 10-4 lead in the first 3:16 of the game, and then both teams jockeyed for the lead as the lead changed hands four times over 1:21 and the game became tied, 17-17, with 13:29 to play in the first half.

Lindsey Wilson scored the next five points as they took a five point lead with 12:18 to play in the first half. The Tigers cut the lead to one point twice, but after Voorhees made it a 29-28 game at the 6:49 mark of the half, the Blue Raiders countered with a 7-0 run over the next 2:29. To close out the half, Dimtry Utolin hit a basket at the buzzer to give the Blue Raiders their largest lead of the half, 42-33.

The Blue Raiders shot 51.6 percent from the floor in the first half compared to 46.2 from the Tigers.

To start the second half, Voorhees continued to chip away at the Lindsey Wilson lead as they made it a four-point game with 15:13 left in the second half. After the game was 51-47 in favor of the Blue Raiders, Lindsey Wilson put together a 9-2 run to take a 60-59 lead with 11:37 to play, after Wallace knocked down a three-pointer.

Lindsey Wilson continued to extend their lead part way through the second half, as they took their largest lead of the game at 74-58, after Windley knocked down back-to-back shots from behind the arc, with 7:10 to play in regulation.

The Tigers countered with an 11-0 run to cut the Blue Raider lead to 75-69 at the 5:07 mark in the second half. Lindsey Wilson regained their double-digit lead just 40 seconds later, but Voorhees did not back down as they cut the lead to six points twice with just one minute to play in regulation. The Blue Raiders held off the Tigers to win the game 85-78.

For the game the Blue Raiders shot 57.4 percent from the floor, while the Tigers finished the game shooting 48.4 percent from the field

Next up for Lindsey Wilson is a matchup with rival No. 18 Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday at Bigger Sports Center at 8 p.m. CT.
