Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team grabbed their fifth-straight win as they upset rival No. 18 Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday night, 102-76.
Dmitry Utolin led the Blue Raiders (8-2, 2-0 MSC) with 25 points, which was two points shy of his career-high. Charles Sutton also finished two points short of his career-high against the Tigers (8-3, 1-2 MSC) on Thursday night, after he poured in 23 points. Bryan Wallace chipped in with 18 points and Hannes Erhardt had 12 points, while Kevin Windley had 11 points off the bench to round out the Lindsey Wilson players in double figures. Erhardt just missed a double-double after he grabbed nine rebounds in the contest.
To start the game, the Blue Raiders went on a 14-8 run in the first 3:20 of regulation. Lindsey Wilson continued to stretch their lead in the early going as they took their first double digit lead of the game at 22-12 with 14:19 to play in the first half.
After Campbellsville cut the Blue Raider lead to 24-17 with 12:34 to play in the half, Lindsey Wilson countered with an 8-0 run to take a 32-17 lead at the 10:18 mark of the first half. The Blue Raiders extended their to 20 points with 6:22 left in the first half after Utolin knocked down a three-pointer.
Both teams continued to battle back-and-forth, which included Lindsey Wilson taking their largest lead of the first half -- 50-29 with 2:34 left in the first half -- and the Tigers trimmed their deficit to 53-37 heading into the half.
For the half, the Blue Raiders shot a scorching 59.5 percent from the floor, compared to 47.1 percent by Campbellsville.
The Tigers cut into the Lindsey Wilson lead to start the second half as the game was 59-46 with 16:42 to play in the game, but that is as close as Campbellsville came in the game. The Blue Raiders came back with a 10-2 run to regain a 21-point lead, 69-48, with 14:58 left in the second half.
Lindsey Wilson led the Tigers 80-58 at the 8:15 mark of the second half, and the Blue Raiders went on a 13-4 run to grab a 93-62 lead with 6:01 to play in regulation. The 31-point lead was the largest lead of the game for Lindsey Wilson. Down the stretch, both teams traded baskets, but Lindsey Wilson completed the upset of the Tigers with a 102-76 victory.
The Blue Raiders finished the game shooting an even 60 percent from the floor, and 55 percent from beyond the arc, while holding the Tigers to 47.7 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from three-point land. Lindsey Wilson also out-rebounded Campbellsville in the game, 37-29.
With the win on Thursday night, Lindsey Wilson moves 2-0 against ranked opponents this season and they have won their fifth-straight game.
