Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. — The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team defeated Fisk (Tenn.) 74-64 in a non-conference game on Tuesday to improve to 9-0 at Biggers Sports Center this season.
Charles Sutton paced the Blue Raiders (13-6), who are receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, with 22 points and 10 rebounds. In the process, Sutton recorded his third double-double of the season.
The Blue Raiders started fast and jumped out to a 16-2 lead with 13:57 left in the first half. The Bulldogs (6-15) clawed their way back to reduce the deficit to nine points with the score 38-29 going into halftime.
Sutton scored 15 of his points and grabbed nine of his rebounds in the first 20 minutes of play.
Fisk continued its momentum into the second half and fought back to within four points at 48-44 with 14:57 to go in the period.
It was the closest the Bulldogs would get.
Lindsey wilson responded with an 11-2 run that increased the lead to 13 at 59-46 with 10:10 to go. The teams traded points the rest of the half with the Blue Raiders holding on for the 74-64 victory.
The Blue Raiders shot 36.1 percent from the field and Fisk shot 39.1 percent from the field, but the Blue Raiders made eight three point shots while holding the Bulldogs to three-made three pointers. Lindsey Wilson also made 22 free throws while Fisk converted on 11 free throws.
Dmitry Utolin and Bryan Wallace also contributed to the win with 21 and 12 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs were led by guards Michael Vardaman and Chris Pollard. Vardaman paced Fisk with 20 points and Pollard added 18.
The Blue Raiders return to action at 4 p.m. CT on Saturday when they welcome Mid-South Conference opponent Life (Ga.) to Biggers Sports Center.
