PINE MOUTAIN, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team moved up two spots to capture fourth place on Tuesday at the Skyhawk Invitational hosted by Point (Ga.).
After a 309 during the opening round on Monday, the Blue Raiders improved to shoot an even 300 on the second day which tied for the second-lowest team round of the tournament.
Lindsey Wilson finished just two strokes behind third-place Faulkner (Ala.), six strokes behind runner-up Point, and 11 strokes behind tournament winner Reinhardt (Ga.).
Chris Butler led the charge for the Blue Raiders as he carded an even-par 72 in the second round, the second-lowest score of the day. He moved up six spots in the individual standings to finish tied for fourth place at 3-over for the tournament, five strokes behind the top medalist.
Federico Navarro also made a charge up the standings into the top 10 to finish tied for seventh place, improving eight spots from yesterday's standings at the par-72, 7,057-yard Callaway Gardens Mountain View Course. He followed his 4-over 76 during the opening round with a 2-over 74 on the second day. The placements by Butler and Navarro made Lindsey Wilson one of three schools to have two golfers finish in the top 10 in the 17-team tournament.
Jonathon Grabara made the biggest leap in the standings for the Blue Raiders. After struggling in the opening round with a 10-over 82, Grabara bounced back with a 3-over 75 to move up 23 spots into a tie for 38th place. Ryan Nowe also tied for 38th place with a 157 (78-79).
Alex Durham completed the team with a 160 (80-80) in a tie for 58th place in the field of 96.
Zach Madewell, who competed as an individual at the tournament, made a jump up the leaderboard improving his 6-over 78 to a 2-over 74 to finish tied for 12th.
