MURRELLS INLET, S.C. – Jonathon Grabara led the Lindsey Wilson men's golf team by earning a tie for fifth place at the Battle of the Beach hosted by Tiffin (Ohio) University at TPC Myrtle Beach on Saturday.
Grabara, who shot a 1-under par 71 on Friday to lead the clubhouse, shot an 8-over par 80 on Saturday to end the tournament in a three-way tie for the fifth position.
In the team standings, the Blue Raiders finished seventh out of 10 teams in a field that was mostly comprised of NCAA institutions. Lindsey Wilson shot a 32-over par 320 for the day and a 60-over par 632 over the course of the two-day tournament. The Blue Raiders finished four strokes behind sixth place Saint Anselm (N.H.) and six shots ahead of eighth place Capital (Ohio).
Chris Butler shot the lowest score for the Blue Raiders in round two with a 4-over par 76. He recorded a two-day total score of 159, which landed Butler in a six-way tie for 27th place.
Federico Navarro tallied a 7-over par 79 on the day to put his tournament total at 162, which was good for a 36th-place tie.
Jordan Hagan recorded a 13-over par 85 performance on the day and a 166 total for the tournament. He finished the two-day event in 47th. Ryan Nowe finished one stroke behind Hagan on the day (86) and in the tournament (167) to grab a share of a four-way tie for 48th place.
Queens-Charlotte (N.C.) won the tournament with a total score of 606.
Austin Elsner of Northern Michigan captured the individual title with a two-round total of 146.
The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team returns to the course on March 14 at the Skyhawk Invitational in Pine Mountain, Ga.
