Men's Basketball defeats Brescia 90-87 Tuesday night

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team defeated Brescia 90-87 Tuesday night in Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders (12-5) had four players finish in double figures led by Charles Sutton who scored a game-high 28 points. Dmitry Utolin recorded his second double-double of the season with 20 points and grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds. Allen Costley chipped in with 11 points and Hannes Erhardt recorded 10 points.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to an early 13-0 lead powered by three consecutive three pointers. Lindsey Wilson had three players in double figures in the first half. Utolin had 12, Sutton and Costley each had 11. The Blue Raiders took a 45-31 lead into the half and limited the Bearcats (2-10) to just 29.7 percent from the field. Lindsey Wilson shot 51.5 from the field and was 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Brescia went on a 12-0 run to cut the Blue Raider lead to 65-55 with 9:44 remaining in the half. After the Bearcats had cut the lead to eight with 7:11 remaining Lindsey Wilson scored seven of the next nine points to take a 77-64 lead with 4:50 left in the second half. Bryan Wallace finished with nine points and scored eight consecutive points from 3:07 to 45 seconds remaining. The Bearcats went on a quick 5-0 run to cut the lead to 84-80 with under a minute to play.

The Blue Raiders made three consecutive free throws to take an 87-80 with 30 seconds remaining. After two made free throws from the Bearcats and a Lindsey Wilson turnover Brescia was able to cut the lead to 89-87 with four seconds to play. After the Blue Raiders went 1-of-2 from the foul line to increase their lead to 90-87 they were able to intentional foul before Brescia could attempt a three point shot. The Bearcats missed both of their free throw attempts.

Dillon Geralds led Brescia in scoring with 21 points. Kayode Dabokiku had 17 points, Tristen Murray recorded 12 points and Trey Howard had 11.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday for a conference matchup against Cumberland (Tenn.) 8 p.m. CT.
