Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The ninth-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer was defeated by No. 7-ranked Georgia Gwinnett 2-1 Wednesday night at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.
Tyler Collishaw scored the lone Blue Raider (7-2-0) goal with Dioulde Niane picking up the assist. The Grizzlies (8-1-1) outshot Lindsey Wilson 9-8 in the match with the Blue Raiders having an advantage in shots on goal 6-5.
Collishaw got the Blue Raiders on the board first in the 10th minute. Niane sent a cross into the box where Collishaw was able to chest it down and settle it before beating the Grizzly goalkeeper for the score. Samuel Sampaio Gomez tried to answer right back for Georgia Gwinnett, but a diving save by William Diaz preserved the 1-0 Lindsey Wilson lead.
The Grizzlies were able to get on the board in the 42nd minute on a goal by Michael Weber. Sagi Hirsch played a free kick toward the end line where Andrew White was able to head it back in front of goal and Weber was there to head it past the Blue Raider goalkeeper. Lindsey Wilson was outshot in the first half 7-4 with the Grizzlies holding a slight 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
Georgia Gwinnett broke the tie in the 69th minute to take a 2-1 lead. A Grizzly player fired a shot that deflected off a Blue Raider defender and re-directed into the net at the near post, going in as an own goal. The final chance for LWC came in the 90th minute but Franck Bikoya's scoring chance was pushed away by the Grizzly goalkeeper.
Matija Gligorovic recorded a match-high five saves. Jack Gurr led Georgia Gwinnett with two shots on goal.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Saturday for a Mid-South Conference matchup against Pikeville (Ky.) at 7 p.m. CT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
