Men's Soccer claims MSC regular-season crown with 4-0 win at Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Tyler Collishaw recorded a hat trick to help No. 10 Lindsey Wilson men's soccer race past No. 14 and host Campbellsville (Ky.) 4-0 tonight at Finley Stadium.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson claims the program's 13th Mid-South Conference regular-season title and the top seed in next week's MSC Tournament.

Collishaw scored the game's first two goals and put an exclamation point on the evening with his third tally of the night. The three-goal game is the fifth multi-goal game of the season and third hat trick in just seven games this season for Collishaw. He is now tied for the MSC lead with 14 goals this season.

The Blue Raiders (11-2, 7-0) started fast, scoring goals in the second and 10th minutes to take a 2-0 lead.

Collishaw started the night's scoring off a free-kick following a Campbellsville (11-2-1, 5-1-1) foul that he drew while penetrating the Tiger back line just outside the penalty area. Collishaw blasted the free-kick curler over the Campbellsville defensive wall and past goalkeeper Andreas Nota -- diving to his left -- and into the bottom right corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead.

It did not take the Blue Raiders long to double their lead.

Collishaw took a pass from the far left flank from Andres Riquelme and one-timed a shot from just inside the 18-yard box. The ball deflected off a Campbellsville defender and looped up and over Nota into the goal for the 2-0 lead.

The Blue Raiders finished the opening 45 minutes with a 9-4 shots advantage, including a 4-2 lead in shots on goal.

The two teams exchanged scoring chances in the early-to-mid stages of the second half in the end-to-end match.

Lindsey Wilson finally capitalized in the 74th minute, all but icing the game and the conference regular-season title.

Yuta Yamamoto scored off a deflection following a Collishaw corner kick to give Lindsey Wilson the 3-0 lead. Collishaw served the ball perfectly in front of the Campbellsville goal and into traffic where a Campbellsville defender headed it onto a charging Yamamoto. He poked in his fifth goal of the season from inside the 6-yard box.

Collishaw closed out the game in the 87th minute with a goal from 13 yards out for the 4-0 lead and eventually the win.

Lindsey Wilson outshot the Tigers 25-9 in the match, including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal.

William Diaz recorded his seventh shutout of the season, stopping all four Campbellsville shots he faced. Nota recorded five saves while allowing the four goals.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 2 in the Mid-South Conference Tournament quarterfinals played at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, Ky. The Blue Raiders meet the No. 8-seed in the tournament -- which has yet to be determined -- at 9:30 a.m. CT in the first of four quarterfinal games on Thursday.
