BUCHANAN, Tenn. – Lindsey Wilson men's golf improved one spot in today's final round to post a fourth-place finish at the at the Skyhawk Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin at Paris Landing State Park.
The Blue Raiders tied for the second-lowest round of the day while posting their best round of the two-day event with today's team-total 296. Lindsey Wilson ended the 54-hole event with an 890 (297-297-296) -- the best finish of the four NAIA programs at the 12-team event.
Host UT-Martin won the event with an 860 (290-287-283) while Murray State (Ky.) (290-289-296) and John A. Logan (Ill.) (294-290-296) finished second and third with an 875 and 880, respectively.
Callum Blinkhorn led the Blue Raiders with a tournament-total 215 (71-74-70) following today's 2-under 70 over the 6,685-yard, par-72 course. He was one of six golfers to finish under par. Blinkhorn -- who finished in sixth place in the 76-man field -- missed the five-man all-tournament team by one stroke.
Blinkhorn completed the tournament with the top score on the par 3s during the event with a stroke average of 2.83. He also finished in the top-20 in par 4 (4.17) and par 5 (4.67) scoring and total birdies (12).
Rusmus Broholt Lind tied for 17th with a 222 (70-74-78) while Cody Mingus ended in 23rd with a 224 (78-72-74). Mingus concluded the tournament tied for the most pars over the three rounds with 38.
Jeremiah Hayes carded a 231 (78-77-76) to tie for 39th while Steven McGowan improved each round to post a 236 (81-78-76), good enough for a tie for 53rd.
John A. Logan's Brian Whitson captured medalist honors with a 6-under par 210 (70-68-72). He defeated UT-Martin's Hunter Richardson by one stroke. Richardson finished with a 211 (74-70-67).
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Oct. 9-10 as the Blue Raiders travel to the Battle of the Bayou at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, La.
