Navarro takes medalist honors, Men's Golf wins LWC Spring Fling

COLUMBIA, Ky.Federico Navarro shot a 7-under to take medalist honors and lead the Lindsey Wilson men's golf team to the title at the LWC Spring Fling tournament on Tuesday at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.

The Blue Raiders finished with a two-day total 563 (286-277) to top the field of nine teams by 27 strokes.

Navarro led the field of 54 golfers in par-4 and par-5 scoring, finishing a total of 8-under on those holes throughout the tournament as he shot a 135 (68-67). He also recorded a tournament-high 13 birdies.

Teammate Rasmus Broholt Lind finished one stroke shy of Navarro in second place with a 136 (69-67). Lind finished with nine birdies and a pair of eagles at the tournament, while finishing the par-4s and par-5s at 7-under.

Frederik Willer also recorded a top-five finish, tying for fifth place with a 144 (74-70). He too posted nine birdies throughout the tournament. Alex Durham and Clayton Bradshaw finished tied for 14th place with 149s over the two-day event. Bradshaw finished second in the tournament with 25 pars.

Kentucky Wesleyan finished second in the team standings with a 590 (300-290), one stroke ahead of Indiana East at 591 (299-292).

Lindsey Wilson's "B" team of Cody Mingus, Cameron Claunch, Tanner Garmon, Scot Kirby and Connor True finished in fifth place with a 599 (296-303).

Navarro, Lind, Willer and Mingus were each named to the all-tournament team after their top-five finishes.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on April 10 for the Wildcat Cup at Brickyard Crossing in Indianapolis, Indiana.
