BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson women's cross country opened its season on Saturday with a second-place finish at the Arthur J. Sciubba Cross Country Invitational at Phil Moore Park.
Lindsey Wilson finished with 77 points in the five-team field, producing three of top-20 finishers in the 5,000-meter run. The race was contested on the course that will be used for the Mid-South Conference Championships in early November.
Nikki Coffey finished a team-best third in the 48-woman field. She crossed the finish line in 19 minutes and four seconds. Coffey's time was more than a minute faster than her time at last year's race -- then called the MSC Preview.
Mia Cornette ended in 11th place with a time of 20:29 while Breana Conway finished in 18th at 21:26. Both Cornette and Conway shaved significant time off last year's performances.
Dezare Jackson -- competing in her first collegiate race -- crossed the line in 25th at 22:08. Taylor Jones posted a time of 22:40, good enough for 31st in the race.
Taylor Robards and Jenniser Rivera -- also running their first collegiate race -- finished 35th and 40th respectively. Robards finished in 23:22 while Rivera ended in 24:43.
No. 6-ranked Shawnee State (Ohio) won the team event with 19 points while Shawnee State's Brooke Shaw won the individual title with a time of 18:34.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Sept. 23 as the Blue Raiders compete at the Austin Peay State Invitational in Clarksville, Tennessee.
