Men's Golf captures Blue Raider Kickoff title

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson men's golf won by the thinnest of margins today besting second-place Shawnee State (Ohio) by one stroke at the Blue Raider Kickoff played at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.

The Blue Raiders completed the two-day tournament with a team score of 573 following today's 291. Lindsey Wilson led by five strokes after an opening round 282 on Monday.

Shawnee State posted a Tuesday-best 287 during a soggy second round to end the event at 574. Campbellsville (Ky.) finished third with a 580 (292-288) while Oakland City (Ind.) and West Virginia Tech rounded out the top five in the nine-team tournament.

Callum Blinkhorn and Rasmus Broholt Lind led the Blue Raiders as each earned all-tournament honors for their top-five finishes. The pair each shot 1-under 70s today to finish third and fourth respectively.

Blinkhorn completes his first collegiate tournament at 139 (69-70) while Lind carded a two-day total of 141 (71-70).

Blinkhorn finished with a tournament-best 10 birdies. He also led the field in par-4 scoring at 5-under par. Lind dominated the par 5s during the tournament. He averaged 4.13 strokes, playing the par 5s at 7-under par.

Cody Mingus shot 146 (71-75) over the two days to finish tied for 15th while Steven McGowan ended in an 18th-place tie at 147 (71-76). Jeremiah Hayes ended in a tie for 32nd with a 152 (74-78) to round out the Blue Raider team.

Seven Blue Raiders competed as individuals during the tournament.

Scot Kirby (77-76) and Connor True (77-76) tied for 34th over the two days with 153s and Chance Presley ended in a tie for 38th with a 155 (79-76). Tanner Garmon carded a 158 (81-77) to tie for 44th and Brennen Walton tied for 46th with a 159 (79-80). Cameron Claunch and Noah Wagers completes the Lindsey Wilson individuals. Claunch finished 49th with 162 (80-82) while Wagers ended in a tie for 56th with a 167 (84-83).

Oakland City's (Ind.) Mitchell Frederick earned medalist honors with a 5-under 137 (67-70) over the two days. Shawnee State's Jordan Tieman finished second at 4-under par 138 (68-70).

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Sept. 18-19 at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament hosted at Cherry Blossom Country Club in Georgetown, Ky.
