Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- A goal in each half propelled the Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over host Cumberlands (Ky.) on Tuesday night at the UC Soccer Complex.
Renan Ramos and Andrew Revanales netted the Lindsey Wilson goals while Noah Slepicka and the Lindsey Wilson backline posted their fifth shutout of the season. Slepicka ended the night with five saves in the victory.
Ramos put the No. 6 Blue Raiders (8-1-1, 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference) in front in the 21st minute with his second goal of the season.
Cumberlands goalkeeper Clement May came off his line for a loose ball deep into the penalty box. Ramos just beat May to the ball and poked it into an open goal for the 1-0 lead. May concluded the match allowing both goals while collecting six saves.
Lindsey Wilson held the one-goal advantage deep into the second frame when Revanales struck with his team-leading 12th goal of the season.
Ramos started the scoring play with a cross that Israel Reyna headed into the penalty box. Revanales collected the pass and beat May for the 2-0 lead.
After being outshot by the Patriots (4-2-2, 1-1) in the opening half 12-5, Lindsey Wilson held a 9-4 shots edge, including 6-0 in shots on target, in the second frame.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Oct. 5, as the Blue Raiders host Georgetown (Ky.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
