Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team defeated Indiana Wesleyan 2-1 Thursday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Andrew Revanales and Renan Ramos each scored a goal for the Blue Raiders (4-1-1) while Dioulde Niane and Rainer De Jesus recorded an assist apiece. Lindsey Wilson outshot the Wildcats (5-1) 27-12 with a 9-3 edge in shots on goal. Niane led the way for the Blue Raiders with six shots and three on goal. Noah Slepicka earned his first win of the season in goal for Lindsey Wilson.
Lindsey Wilson had a few scoring chances in the first half and were unable to capitalize. In the eighth minute, Niane got past the Indiana Wesleyan defense and fired a shot that was kicked saved by the Wildcat goalkeeper. Revanales slipped past the Wildcat defense and was one on one with the goalkeeper and fired a shot wide in the 19th minute. Revanales had another opportunity in the 41st minute but his shot hit off the crossbar.
The Blue Raiders held a 17-5 edge in shots in the first with a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal. Revanales and Niane had four shots apiece in the half while Jan Engels recorded three. Tony Aegerter recorded the lone shot on goal in the half for Indiana Wesleyan.
Lindsey Wilson struck first in the 67th minute. Revanales scored his eighth goal of the season when he fired a shot on a pass from Niane that beat the Indiana Wesleyan goalkeeper to the far post. Ramos increased the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 in the 70th minute. After De Jesus crossed a ball in the box, Ramos ran in and was able to find the back of the net. Filipe Mendonca got the Wildcats on the board in the 82nd minute to trim the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-1.
Mendonca led Indiana Wesleyan with five shots and two on goal. Naoya Fugono recorded seven saves for the Wildcats.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Sunday when they host No. 25-ranked Menlo (Calif) at 11 a.m. CT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
