COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team broke the program's two-round scoring record while winning the Lindsey Wilson Fall Kickoff today played at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.
The Blue Raiders posted a two-day total 548 (276-272) to win the seven-team tournament by three strokes over second-place Campbellsville (Ky.). The Tigers ended the tournament with a 551 (278-273). Midway (Ky.) finished third at 566 (284-282).
While the team battle was close, the chase for the medalist was even closer -- needing an extra hole to decide a champion.
Callum Blinkhorn eagled the first playoff hole to beat Campbellsville's Justin Warman -- who birdied -- to take home his first career title.
Blinkhorn tied the program's scoring record for a two-day event, posting a 133 (67-66). He took advantage of The Pines par-5s, finishing the tournament 8-under par on the par-5s. Blinkhorn concluded the tournament with 11 birdies and an eagle in regulation play.
Warman led the tournament with 14 birdies en route to also shooting a 133 (66-67).
Etienne Rensburg finished third, one stroke back at 134 (67-67). Campbellsville's Landon Conner ended in fourth with a 136 (70-66) while Jeremiah Hayes (71-67) and Midway's Austin Mitchell (69-69) tied for fifth with 138s.
The six players all earned all-tournament honors.
Cody Mingus tied for 12th with a 143 (71-72) and Steven McGowan ended in a tie for 17th with a 146 (72-74) to round out the Blue Raider five-man squad.
The team win marks the 19th consecutive year the Blue Raiders have won a tournament during the season.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Sept. 10-11 at the NAIA Memphis Shootout at the TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.
