COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The fifth-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team got off to a fast start and never looked back in a 44-15 win over visiting Ave Maria (Fla.) today at Blue Raider Stadium.

The Lindsey Wilson defense held the Gyrenes (1-1) to just 1-of-9 on third-down conversions and provided a scoop-and-score touchdown while the offense tallied 514 yards to move to 2-0 on the season.

The Blue Raider defense forced back-to-back three-and-outs on Ave Maria's first two possessions of the game and surrendered just one first down in the first quarter.

While the defense set the tone, the Lindsey Wilson offense scored a touchdown on its first drive and a field goal on its second to take a 10-0 first-quarter lead.

Cameron Dukes opened the day's scoring with a 24-yard scramble for his first career rushing touchdown. During the drive, Blake Ingleton moved atop the program's all-time rushing list with his first carry of the drive. Ingleton finished the game with 73 rushing yards and a touchdown. He now sits on top with 1,748 career rushing yards.

Following a second straight Ave Maria forced punt by the LWC defense, the Blue Raiders used a 16-play, 55-yard drive to take a 10-0 lead. Jared Daugherty connected on a 23-yard field goal to extend the lead.

Lindsey Wilson continued its hot start in the early stages of the second quarter.

Jalen Boyd scored his first career touchdown on the second play of the quarter, scampering 30 yards to give Lindsey Wilson a 17-0 lead. Boyd finished with 96 yards on just eight carries in this game.

The Lindsey Wilson defense got into the scoring act on the next Ave Maria possession.

Damani Jenkins recorded a strip-sack and Joe Lewis picked up the loose ball and ran 45 yards for the touchdown and a 24-0 lead. It is Lewis' third career touchdown. Jenkins ended with four tackles, including the sack -- one of four in the game for the Blue Raider defense.

Two possessions later, Ave Maria put together its best drive of the game with an 11-play, 79-yard drive. Sefe Wences scored from the one-yard line to cut the deficit to 24-7 heading into halftime.

Much like the fast start in the first half, Lindsey Wilson scored on its first possession of the second half.

Dukes connected with Cam Wyche for a 44-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 30-7. Ave Maria took advantage of a mishandled snap on the extra-point try and returned it for a defensive two-point conversion to trail 30-9.

Wyche recorded his second straight 100-yard receiving game, posting nine grabs for 141 yards. The 141 yards is the sixth highest in the program's single-game history. Dukes ended the game 21-of-30 for 253 yards and one touchdown.

Ave Maria climbed within two scores in the early stages of the fourth quarter. Quino Mauricette powered in from one yard out to trim the Lindsey Wilson lead to 30-15. Mauricette ran for a team-high 53 yards in the loss.

Lindsey Wilson responded three minutes later as Ingleton scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the season from the nine-yard line to give the Blue Raiders a 37-15 cushion.

Darius Clark tacked on a touchdown in the waning minutes of the game on a 24-yard run to give Lindsey Wilson the 44-15 win.

The Blue Raider ground attack and the stout defense enabled Lindsey Wilson to finish the game with a 514 to 280 yards advantage.

Trent Mueller paced the Blue Raider defense with 12 tackles. Michael DeLeon and Mark Pruitt each added eight tackles in the win. Pruitt also finished with a sack.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 15, as Pikeville (Ky.) visits Blue Raider Stadium.
