Burns Wins Lindsey Wilson Fall Invite; Men's Golf Finishes Third

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Callum Burns produced the low score at the Lindsey Wilson Fall Invite to take first place and pick up his first career victory as a Blue Raider with a 1-over par two-round total. The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team finished in third place at their season-opening home event carding a 595 (300-295) on the par-71, 6,598-yard course The Pines.

Golfers battled frequent showers throughout the entirety of the two-round event.

Burns fought the elements carding a first-round 71 to sit in a five-way tie for first place. He managed four birdies and 11 pars throughout his first 18-holes, playing his best on the par-fives with a two-under mark.

Burns carried momentum into the final round as he was able to break away from the pack, firing a 1-over par 72. For the tournament, the junior managed the third most birdies and pars with seven and 23, respectively.

Sebastian Sandin carded a four-over 75 during round one and followed that up with a two-over 73 to score a 148 two-round total. The freshman, appearing in his first event, climbed from a tie for 12th after round one to finish in a tie for seventh.

Jeremiah Hayes turned in a five-over-par 76 during play in both the first and second round to finish in a tie for 12th place with a tournament total of 152.

Emil Gruhn and Janik Hawlitzky both managed to produce 78's on their opening rounds to sit tied for 16th. Gruhn added a three-over-par 74 second round to tie for 12th with teammate Hayes. Hawlitzky held his position at 16th with a final round of 77.

Blake Biggs played as an individual at the event and carded a first-round 74 to sit in a tie for an eighth-place after completion of the first round and dropped into a tie for 12th after closing out the tournament with a final round 77.

Shane Henderson, Evan Kidd and Chase Carpenter also competed as individuals at the tournament. Henderson produced a 173 (84-89), Kidd carded a 174 (90-84) and Carpenter managed a 189 (91-98).

Campbellsville took the team championship with a 579 (287-292) as Cumberland (Tenn.) just edged out LWC by two strokes with a 593 (291-302) to take second.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Oct. 5 when they take part in the Music City Invite at Twelve Stones Golf Club in Nashville, Tennessee.
