Men's basketball falls 72-58 to Pikeville

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson's men's basketball offensive struggles continued against Pikeville (Ky.) as the Blue Raiders fall to the Bears 72-58. Lindsey Wilson (3-9, 1-8 in the Mid-South Conference) shot just 38 percent from the floor and 1-of-15 behind the arc on the night.

Lindsey Wilson faced an upward battle from the very beginning, as Pikeville came out of the gate with a five point unanswered scoring run. The Bears extend their lead throughout the first half, shooting 64 percent from the field, going into the break with a 43-32 halftime score.

A four minute stretch of traded turnovers and missed shots welcomed both teams to start the second half. Both teams traded possessions at least twice before a basket was made. The Bears offense began heating up, as they went on a 11 point run with 8:23 left in the game to extend the lead to 62-42. The scoring spert opened a 20 point gap, the Bears biggest lead in the game.

The Blue Raiders made one final push, with Payton Cundiff adding a late three, but ultimately it wasn't enough and Lindsey Wilson lost their seventh straight game in a row.

Elijah Jordan dropped a game-high 23 points on the night. Ryan Friday added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Darius Love had a double-double for the Bears, dropping a team-high 21 points and collecting 13 rebounds. Korbin Spencer added 17 points for Pikeville.

Lindsey Wilson returns to Biggers Sports Center on Saturday, Jan. 16, to close out a three game home stand against Cumberlands (Ky.) at 4:00 PM CT.
