Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team made a late surge in their Mid-South Conference matchup with Martin Methodist (Tenn.) but ultimately lost 81-74 at the Curry Christian Life Center.
Martin Methodist (9-1, 5-1 MSC) led from wire-to-wire as the Blue Raiders' (3-7, 1-6 MSC) slow start plagued their winning effort. The RedHawks jumped out to a 10 point, 14-4, lead over the first four minutes of the contest and managed to maintain their double-digit lead until the late stages of the second half.
Despite the sluggish Blue Raider first-half, Martin Methodist took their largest lead of the game with 10:11 to play in the second half at a 13 point 64-51 lead. Over the waning minutes of the contest, the Blue Raiders finally began chipping away.
LWC trimmed their deficit to as few as three points twice, once with 45 seconds to play but that was as close as they got to taking the lead. The RedHawks closed out the game on a 6-2 run to win 81-74.
Three Blue Raiders finished in double-digit scoring as Colen Gaynor picked up his fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 boards. Elijah Jordan added 17 points, six rebounds and two steals as Payton Cundiff managed 12 points.
Darrin Jenkins dominated the game for the RedHawks, scoring 30 points while adding five steals and three assists.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Monday at Biggers Sports Center when they take on Thomas More (Ky.) at 5:30 p.m. CT.
