Men's Soccer Caps Off Senior Day With Win Over Rival Campbellsville

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 12-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team defeated Campbellsville (Ky.) 5-1 this evening to cap off a senior day to remember.

Nathaniel Onyina Opoku had a game scoring two goals in the victory pushing his total to 14 goals on the season while Cyrus Harmon picked up two assists putting him at six assists on the season. Amin Fernouchi, David Ibrahimkadic, and Monwabisi Mngqibisa all found their names on the score sheet with Alexander Koziolek, Moussa Gueye, Alvaro Verwey, and Victor Cavalcante all had assists in the match.

The Blue Raiders (11-2-1, 10-1 MSC) complete the regular season with the victory tonight and will take the top-seed in the upcoming Mid-South Conference Tournament.

Fernouchi kicked off the scoring when he broke through for the Blue Raiders first goal of the game in the 14th minute. Harmon picked up his first of two assists in the match on the play.

Opoku scored during the 38th minute -" his first of two goals -- on an assist by Koziolek. The goal marks Opoku's second straight contest with a goal as the Blue Raiders went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Ibrahimkadic increased the LWC lead to three when he scored after Harmon played one to the opposite side of the field. Ibrahimkadic took one touch, moving around his defender before finishing into the back of the net.

Campbellsville finally broke through in the 53rd minute when Tom Edge scored to trim the LWC advantage to just two goals.

Opoku chipped one over a charging keeper during the 59th minute on a ball from Gueye. Gueye picked up his first career assist on the play.

In the final minute of play, Mngqibisa pushed the Blue Raider lead to five after finishing a nice back-heeled set up from Verwey on the edge of the box.

The Blue Raiders now turn their attention to the MSC tournament which is slated to begin next week. Lindsey Wilson will learn their opponent and game time later this week when all regular-season conference games have been completed.
