Men's Golf Finished Tied for Second at MSC Fall Tournament

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team produced their highest round total of the week (307) during their final round of play at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament to finish in a tie for second place.

The Blue Raiders entered the final round in first place by three strokes. For the tournament, they carded an 891 (295-289-307). Cumberland (Tenn.) finished in first place with an 888 (293-294-301) as Tennessee Southern tied with LWC at 891 (304-294-293). For the event, LWC managed 158 pars and 33 birdies.

The event was being played at Bowling Green Country Club, a par-72, 6,751-yard design. In total 11 conference schools competed at the event with a total of 68 individuals in the field.

Janik Hawlitzky was one of two competitors to finish the week under-par, finishing as the runner-up with a two-under-par mark. He scored a 214 (73-68-73) and lost to only Justin Johns of Tennessee Southern who fired a four-under-par total.

Hawlitzky played the par-5's the second-best in the field with a four-under total and a 4.67 scoring average. His even-par mark in the par-3's was the fourth-best while his 4.07 scoring average and two-over mark in the par-4's was the third-best. He totaled the most birdies at the tournament with 12 while adding 35 pars.

Emil Gruhn finished in a tie for fourth place with a 219 (69-73-77). He struggled to find his rhythm during his final 18 holes, carding just one birdie along with five over-par holes. Sebastian Sandin took 21st place following a 229 (78-73-78).

Shane Henderson and Alfie Yearsley rounded out LWC scoring, finishing in 44th and 52nd, respectively. Henderson carded a 237 (75-75-87) while Yearsley posted a 241 (80-82-79).

Juan Pablo Garcia and Tommaso Pietrobon competed as individuals at ­­the event. Garcia finished in 40th place with a 236 (80-75-81) as Pietrobon took 55th following a 242 (80-78-84).

The Blue Raiders now break for winter before returning to competition in the spring.
