Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team suffered their second consecutive loss of the season, dropping their second conference game of the season to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 79-84.
Elijah Jordan led the Blue Raiders (5-3, 0-2 MSC) in scoring with 25 points on the evening while Mark Edmond led the team in rebounding with eight in the game. Calvin Fugett and Giir Ring also had double-digit points tonight for the Blue Raiders.
As a team, the Blue Raiders shot 45.3 percent from the floor while shooting 62.5 percent from the free-throw line compared to the Lions 45.5 percent from the floor and 87.9 from the free-throw line. The Blue Raiders outrebounded the Lions 39-28 while also recording 11 turnovers in the match.
In the first half, it was the Lions who were dominating at home hitting four of six from the three-point line to take a 20-13 lead halfway through the opening half of play. A 6-0 scoring run led by Calvin Fugett with five minutes on the clock helped the Blue Raiders cut the Lions lead to 17-20 before the media timeout. The scoring run continued allowing Lindsey Wilson to get within a point at 23-24 after a layup from Giir Ring with two minutes left of the clock, but an immediate answer from the Lions allowed them to keep a slender lead of 23-26 at the halftime break.
In the second half, the Blue Raiders cut the lead to within one after a bucket from Jaymus Jones, but the Lions had an answer as Hunter Scurlock hit back-to-back layups before free throws from Zach Baugher extended their lead to five points again at 27-32. Moments later Edmond was gifted with a breakaway layup after a turnover from the Lions that tied the game at 32-32. With 9:57 left in regulation, Connor Robinson tied the game up for the Blue Raiders for the third time in the game after hitting a layup to make it 47-47. Despite the Blue Raiders' best efforts to rally, the team never could take a lead in the match as the Lions held on to win at home 79-84.
The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team will continue their road trip when they take part in the Campbellsville Thanksgiving Classic on November 26-27. The Blue Raiders will open the classic with a matchup against Indiana Southeast on Thursday. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
