MOBILE, Ala. -- Lindsey Wilson men's golf opened its spring season with a seven-stroke win today at the 2021 Ram Spring Invite at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
The Blue Raiders -- who entered today's final with a two-stroke lead -- posted a team-low today of 294 to win with a three-round total of 884 (298-292-294). Host Mobile (Ala.) finished second with an 891 (292-300-299) in the seven-team field.
Janik Hawlitzky led the Blue Raiders with a tie for second place in the 43-man field.
Hawlitzky shot a career-best 2-under par 70 in today's final round to finish the event at even-par 216 (72-74-70). Hawlitzky carded five birdies during today's final round for his best finish as a collegiate golfer. Hawlitzky concluded the tournament with nine birdies over the two days.
Callum Blinkhorn joined Hawlitzky with a top-five finish, ending in fourth with a 218 (75-70-73). Blinkhorn battled back from an opening double-bogey to shoot a 1-over par 73 today. He ended the tournament with 11 birdies.
Emil Gruhn -- playing as an individual -- gave the Blue Raiders three top-10 finishes ending in 10th with a 222 (72-71-79).
Sebastian Sandin and Callum Burns finished one shot apart. Sandin posted a 227 (77-74-76) to tie for 14th while Burns shot 228 (79-74-75) to tie for 16th. Jeremiah Hayes ended in a tie for 31st with a 234 (74-80-80).
The win is the second straight for the Blue Raiders who ended the fall season with a win at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament in Bowling Green, Ky.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on March 8-9 as the Blue Raiders travel to the Skyhawk Invitational at Callaway Garden Golf Club in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
