Men's Soccer Returns to Action With 6-0 Victory Over Freed-Hardeman

Box Score

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team (4-1-1, 4-0-1 Mid-South Conference) returned to action today with a solid 6-0 victory over fellow MSC opponent, Freed-Hardeman.

Four Blue Raiders got on the score sheet tonight with David Ibramkadic opening the scoring in the 23rd minute for his second goal of the season. The winger from Louisville has now scored in back-to-back games for the Blue Raiders. Vitor De Lima and Ezequiel Hernandez also scored in the first half, collecting their second goals of the season. Alexander Koziolek grabbed a goal in the second half for his second of the season with Freed-Hardeman scoring two own goals in the match, one in each half of play.

The opening half was an electric one for the Blue Raiders with relentless attacks on the Lions defense. It was only a matter of time before the defensive wall toppled and it did so in the 23rd minute when Rainer De Jesus found Ibramkadic in open space on the left-hand side of the field who dribbled past his defender and put his shot over the hands of the Freed-Hardeman keeper for the 1-0 lead.

Things would worsen for the Lions in the 30th minute when Christian Sachs made a heavy backward pass to his goalkeeper Calum Langdale who tried to bring the pass down to the ground with his chest and in doing so, got the ball caught between his feet and turned around to find it rolled into the net for the own goal and 2-0 Lindsey Wilson lead.

Just seconds later, De Lima was subbed into the game for the Blue Raiders and grabbed goal number three on the day with a shot that went high, rebounded off the crossbar back down to De Lima, who finished into an open net with his head. Hernandez gave the Blue Raiders a 4-0 lead in the dying moments of the half when he intercepted a clearance from the Lions goalkeeper in midfield and hit the long-range shot into an empty net.

The goals continued to flow in the second half for the Blue Raiders as Koziolek finished a first-time volley in the box from a Neville Morgan cross in the 53rd minute for the 5-0 lead. The final goal came in the last ten minutes of the second half as Hugo Sias sent in a ball towards the back post from a free-kick that took a deflection off a Lion defender and into the back of the net for the final score of 6-0.

Lindsey Wilson finished the night outshooting Freed-Hardeman 28-3, forcing the Lions into five saves.

The Blue Raiders return to Walter S. Rueling Stadium on Tuesday, March 16 when they welcome in the No. 23 ranked Bethel Wildcats (Tenn.) at 5 p.m. CT.
