Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team lost to No. 23 Bethel (Tenn.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Tuesday evening by a final score of 2-1.
Bethel (6-0-0, 5-0-0 MSC) struck first in the 19th minute when Sergio Baguena was on the receiving end of a bad bounce that left him all alone in front of the LWC goal. He easily finished taking an early 1-0 Bethel advantage.
David Ibramkadic posted the equalizer on a fantastic individual effort during the 38th minute. The senior raced across the field just outside the 18-yard box, weaving his way through three defenders before firing a shot into the top-left corner of the goal.
The Blue Raiders (4-2-1, 4-1-1 MSC) controlled play in the second half, producing three-point-blank shots from deep inside the 18-yard box but failed to convert on their attempts. Lindsey Wilson racked up 13 shots in the half with three being on target.
Bethel scored the golden goal in the 96th minute when Rodrigo Atilano was able to head one past LWC keeper David Coffey.
Lindsey Wilson outshot the Wildcats 24-17 including an 8-6 mark in shots on goal.
The Blue Raiders return to the pitch on Thursday when they welcome Thomas More (Ky.) to Walter S. Reuling Stadium. Play is slated to begin at 5 p.m. CT.
