Men's Golf ties for second at Skyhawk Invitational

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's golf finished in second after the completion of all three rounds of the Skyhawk Invitational at the Callaway Gardens.

The Blue Raiders shot a three-round total of 886 -- producing a 293-293-300 for their rounds -- on the 7,057-yard, par-72 Mountain View course. (RV) Truett-McConnell (Ga.) took first place in the 16-team tournament with an 872 (282-287-303).

The tournament boasted eight ranked teams and two other teams receiving voting points in the national poll. The Blue Raiders tied with No. 18 Southeastern (Fla.) for second place as they also finished with an 886.

Emil Gruhn posted the Blue Raiders top finish in a tie for seventh place with a 219 (71-73-75). He posted three birdies on his final round. Janik Hawlitzky played the course to a 221 (71-73-77) to sit alone in 12th place.

Sebastian Sandin posted a 222 (73-75-74) with four birdies on his final 18-holes. He tied for 13th place. Callum Blinkhord managed to tie for 18th place at the event with a 224 (78-72-74).

Callum Burns was the only other Blue Raider to compete, finishing in a tie for 40th place in the 80-man field with a 233 (80-76-77).

The Blue Raiders posted the most pars at the event with 117 as they played the par-5's to 9-under par. The mark was the second-best at the tournament as their 3.38 and 4.14 scoring average on the par three's and four's were the second and third best averages, respectively.

Southeastern's Matthew Soucinek ran away with the individual title at 6-under par. He carded a 210 (74-69-67) to win by three strokes over J Michael Riley of Mobile (Ala.).

The Blue Raiders return to the course on March 22-23 when they host the Blue Raider Invitational at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson.
