CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team struggled in their final round of the Mid-South Conference Spring Invite on Tuesday afternoon finishing in third place despite leading the field by a five-stroke lead to begin the day.
The Blue Raiders posted a 600 (293-307) for the invitational. The event was held at Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain in Crossville, Tennessee a par-72, 6,928-yard design.
Lindsey Wilson did do enough to secure the MSC Regular Season Championship as they share the distinction with Cumberlands (Ky.). Lindsey Wilson finished in first place at the MSC Fall Invite along with today's third-place finish secured the title.
The regular-season title marks the 11th time in program history the Blue Raiders have accomplished the feat.
Callum Blinkhorn finished in a tie for seventh place for the tournament following a 148 (72-76). Emil Gruhn improved his second-round score by a stroke to shoot 74 – 149 for the invite – to just break into the top-10 in a tie for ninth place.
Sebastian Sandin fell from the lead entering the final round to finish in 11th place with a 150 (71-79). Callum Burns posted a 155 (75-80) to tie for 31st as Janik Hawlitzky finished in 36th place with a 157 (79-78).
Jeremiah Hayes competed as an individual at the event where he turned in a 163 (84-79 ) in 51st place.
Campbellsville (Ky.) took first place with a 590 (298-292) while Jonathan Brewington – also of Campbellsville – took the individual title with a 140 (73-67) to finish 4-under par.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action for the MSC Championship on April 26-28 at Bowling Green Country Club in Bowling Green, Ky.
