SILVIS, Ill. - The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team exited the NAIA Championship today after missing out on the 17 team and 40-player individual cut after 36 holes of play. The Blue Raiders improved by four strokes from their score of 306 yesterday to shoot a 302 today at the TPC Deere Run par-71 course. The score however wasn't enough as the Blue Raiders finished tied for 18th overall and 42nd in the individual leaderboards.
Callum Blinkhorn had the best day overall for the Blue Raiders after shooting an underwhelming 78 to go 7-over par yesterday. The junior got his momentum back today, putting two birdies, and stayed even throughout the first nine. Blinkhorn finished the day with a score of 72 to go 8-over par and tied for 42nd overall
Janik Hawlitzky recorded three birdies on the back nine holes today after playing a 76 and 5-over par yesterday. The freshman finished with a score of 78 to go 12-over par and tied for 74th overall.
Emil Gruhn had a rough day on the course after impressing with a five birdie, 73, and 2-over par score on day one. The freshman did not have a great back nine, recording five bogeys and a triple bogey on hole 13. Gruhn finished the day with a score of 82, going 13-over par and tied for 88th overall.
Sebastian Sandin hit two birdies on the back nine today after scoring an 81 and 10-over par on the first day of play. The freshman finished the day with a score of 75 to go 14-over par and tied for 98th overall.
Callum Burns also tied for 98th overall after scoring a 77 today, putting him at 14-over par overall.
Texas Wesleyan leads the field with an overall score of 282 and 11-over par after two days of play while Logan Smith of William Woods (Mo.) leads the individual leaderboard with an overall score of 135 going 8-under par.
With the setback, the Lindsey Wilson Men's Golf season comes to an end.
