Men's Soccer Drops Conference Battle at Home

Box Score 1

COLUMBIA, Ky – Lindsey Wilson men's soccer falls short 2-1 against Bethel University (Tenn) on Wednesday night in a competitive battle at Ray Wells Field. The Blue Raiders (5-6-3, 4-3-1) could not find the back of the net again to tie with the Wildcats (10-2-2, 6-2) after some last second chances at the goal.

Bethel pushed the pace in the first half, scoring two goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Adrian Musubi scored the first of the game in the eighth minute and the second during the final minute of the half on an assist by Gregory Cousins.

Ten minutes into the second frame, Lindsey Wilson finally got on the board to cut their deficit to just one. Monwabisi Mngqibisa broke down the left flank before sending a high cross into the 18-yard box. The pass found the head of a driving Sadam Masereka who headed home the goal past a frozen Wildcat keeper. Masereka now has nine goals on the season.

Goalkeeper Pablo Costa managed to hold Bethel scoreless in the second half to give the Blue Raiders a chance, but a few shots were just out of scoring range for LWC as time expired. Costa ended with six saves and has 32 total this year.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the pitch on Ray Wells Field on Saturday when they host Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). Play is slated to begin at Walter S. Reuling Stadium at 7 p.m. CT.
