Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team used eight goals, four coming from Monwabisi Mngqibisa, to trounce visiting Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 8-0 on Saturday night.
The Blue Raiders attack was relentless, peppering the opposing goaltender with 28 shots, 14 of which were on net. On the defensive side, the back third clamped down only allowing three shots, limiting the Lions to only one shot on net, producing the second cleansheet of the season for Pablo Costa.
Along with the career game from Mngqibisa, Jaland Larmond secured himself a brace in the contest with Sadam Masereka, also collecting two assists, and Philip Lucius each netting one apiece while Pierluigi Paradiso, Jean Wikes, Juan Pablo Garcia, and Anouar Adam conclude the offensive statistics with one assist each.
Mngqibisa started the scoring for the Blue Raiders in the 9th minute with a beautiful finish from the right side of the penalty area. This score would hold until the halftime whistle.
Mngqibisa opened up the floodgates in the second half, scoring less than a minute into the half. This was quickly followed by one more from Mngqibisa, securing the hat trick, and one from Masereka and one from Larmond, pinning the game at 4-0 in the 56th minute.
The Blue Raiders would go on to add four more goals before the final whistle, with Larmond collecting his second, Philip Lucius netting his first of the season, and finally Mngqibisa capping off his four goal effort.
The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team stays in Columbia for the men's soccer rendition of the Battle of Highway 55 vs. Campbellsville (Ky.) on Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. CT.
