Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team notch a 2-1 win on Senior Night to end the regular season against Campbellsville (Ky.) in the men's soccer rendition of the Battle for Highway 55 on Thursday night on Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Although the Tigers led in total shots, 20 to 17, the Blue Raiders led the shots-on-goal disparity with that being seven to five, in favor of the homeside.
Lindsey Wilson got off to a shaky start, with miscues coming from the defensive and offensive end. Campbellsville broke open the scoring in the 19th minute when Nathan Schmidli received a ball over the top of the back line from James Feeley, with Schimidli chipping it over the top of the outstretched goalkeeper. The Blue Raiders answered back shortly after Jaland Larmond broke into the 18 yard box, using a left footed strike to slot it over the goaltender.
Monwabisi Mngqibisa put Lindsey Wilson in front of the match just before the buzzer of halftime, after Larmond gathered the ball and played it back to the top of the 18 yard box, with Mngqibisa delivering the strike, and silenced the rowdy crowd in celebration.
That score would hold until the final whistle, despite close chances from both Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville, showing the Blue Raiders victorious in the Battle of Highway 55.
The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team will play Cumberland (Tenn.) on Nov. 4 at a time to be determined in the Quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
