COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team took home first place at the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational after a 12-under final round to run away with the team championship. The Blue Raiders carded an 870 (298-296-276) to win the event by 21 strokes.
Sebastian Sandin finished the tournament in a tie for first place at one under but eventually fell to second with a loss on the second playoff hole. Blake Maupin of Pikeville (Ky.) won the event with a par-par score during the extra holes.
The opening conference event of the year was played at Bowling Green Country Club, a par-72, 6,788-yard design.
Sandin moved three spots up the leaderboard during the final round finishing with 215 (69-77-69). Sandin's final round was unblemished as he posted three birdies and 15 pars.
The Blue Raiders crowded the top 10 at the tournament as four Blue Raiders finished inside the top eight. Their final round of 276 was the low team score across 18 holes.
Rio Saigal tied for the low round of the event with teammate Callum Waugh as the pair both posted final rounds of 68. Saigal posted a fourth-place finish with a 217 (75-74-68) as Waugh was just behind in sixth place with a 219 (77-74-68).
Ivan Ninkovic was the final Blue Raider in the top eight as he posted a 221 (77-73-71). Janik Hawlitzky rounded out the scoring for LWC with a 227 (79-75-73) to finish in a tie for 23rd.
Frederik Strand competed as an individual at the event, scoring a 228 (74-74-80) to sit in a tie for 28th place. Ben Melander also competed as an individual posting a 236 (79-77-80) in a tie for 39th place.
The Blue Raiders now break for the winter before resuming their season in the spring.
