WILLIAMSBURG, Ky – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team falls 77-57 to (RV) Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday in a conference matchup. This marks the Blue Raiders second-straight conference loss and drops them to 5-7 overall.

Three Blue Raiders managed to reach double figures in scoring with Payton Cundiff leading all scorers with 15 points. Jayden Lazard and Connor Robinson backed up Cundiff with 12 and 11 points of their own.

Lindsey Wilson jumped out to an ealy 6-2 lead after some nice ball movement that found open looks to the rim. After a few LWC baskets, the Pats went on a 11-0 run after taking the lead with back-to-back triples. The Patriots had just a few more threes made than the Blue Raiders in the first half, but their aggressive play getting to the line led them to control the pace of the half.

Offensive struggles and turnovers by the Blue Raiders allowed Cumberlands to extend their first half lead to 25-17 with over three minutes remaining in the half. LWC went 9-30 from the field and trailed in bench points 17-2. A three pointer at the buzzer by the Patriots wrapped up the half as Cumberlands went into halftime up 31-23.

The Patriots continued their offensive dominance coming into the second half as their lead shot up to 13 and UC did not look back from that point on. The Cumberlands lead extended to 20 just under eight minutes to play into the final half.

LWC fought back to cut it down to 15 at one point but the Patriots' shooting beyond the arc and points off turnover margin overwhelmed the Blue Raiders to go ahead by as large as 24 points late in the game.

Despite Lindsey Wilson having the rebound and points in the paint advantage, it was not enough to overcome the Patriots in a 77-57 defeat as Cumberlands improves to 11-2 overall.

Lucas Ribeiro had a game high of 10 rebounds followed by five from Robinson and Cundiff.

The Blue Raiders are back on the hardwood on Monday, Dec. 12 when they take on Austin Peay State (Tenn.) in Clarksville, Tenn at 7 p.m. CT.
